Crocs Chart – May 2008

May 1st, 2008 Dr Crocs No comments

My Crocs UK Chart shows the 10 most popular UK Crocs shoes styles on the All the Shoes website over the previous month.

Not a ton of movement in the Crocs Classic Chart this month. Crocs Mammoth slips another place to number 3 and Crocs Cayman is once again affirmed as the most popular style of Croc in Adults and Kids sizes. I promised this month I’d also list a provisional chart of 2008 Crocs styles. To give a level playing field, I’m basing this on keyword searches I receive (not page views as in the regular chart). This is because some styles like Crocs Adara are now available and have their own page on my site and others are still to arrive, so here goes.

Crocs Chart – April 2008

April 3rd, 2008 Dr Crocs No comments

My Crocs UK Chart shows the 10 most popular UK Crocs shoes styles on the All the Shoes website over the previous month.

Well if the first few days of April are anything to go by Summer is on its way at last here in the UK. Kids Cayman Crocs have made a recovery to number 5, Kids Crocs Mammoth have slipped off the chart (number 11), Crocs Cayman increases its lead at number 1 with nearly twice as many pageviews as the Crocs Mammoth at number 2 a clear indication that the summer styles are seeing a resurgence.

Its clear that many Crocs retailers are trying to shift old Crocs stock before the core buying period begins. Consequently there are some low Crocs sale prices but often only the very small or very large shoe sizes or unpopular colours are in stock fro this price.

Next month I will be issuing two Crocs charts – traditional Crocs and Crocs 2008 styles. Even though these 2008 Crocs are not available yet in the UK, I think an early indication of the European Crocs market trends would be interesting. To give you a heads up, based on search keywords here would be the top 5 2008 styles this month. Crocs Cyprus, Crocs Baya, Crocs Adara, Crocs Baja, Crocs Tikali.

Thoughts on Crocs (CROX) Brand Development in Europe in 2008

March 8th, 2008 Dr Crocs No comments

I’m pleased to say that I get a lot of readers of my Blog from the States and in particular from the yahoo CROX message boards. I’m posting below a re-edited version of my post made on the board last week.

Kids Crocs and a Summer only brand

Thanks for your interest in my monthly charts. He’s my personal perspective on the European market. Yes I have seen a dip in interest in kids styles compared to Adults sizes. My assumption is most kids were bought their summer crocs last summer and possibly some lucky kids had their Mammoths at Christmas (if the suppliers bulk orders arrived from Crocs Europe in time). Sadly, last summer also spawned a raft of cheap chinese “crocs” copies at every beach and market in the UK mostly aimed at the kids. Parents spent 4-6 pounds (versus 24 pounds!) on these cheap fakes. I’d guesstimate the genuine to fakes I saw on UK kids feet was about 50:50. Its good to know kids are brand aware eh! It could have been worse. So thats why I feel there has been a dip this Q1 – kids already have their “crocs” and generally at this time of year few UK people are in the Crocs-buying mind set – and I’ll tell you why and why it may affect Crocs brand development ….

The vast majority of UK folks (and I talk to many people as well as do lots of google analytics on my site) think of Crocs as a strictly *summer* shoe. And a the iconic clog shape at that.

No New Styles Available

UK folks, very late in Q4, saw Crocs Mammoths on shelves in stores over here. Most displays they see, even now, have only Caymans, Professional, Prima, Athens and Scutes. My local garden centre (which seems to be where you find most displays for Crocs – not a great brand statement in my view) have these. Crocs “concept” stores, there is one in London and three in progess, are only just arriving. Some of the major department stores have them in their paper and online catalogues only and NOT on shelves in their stores. So the message about “Crocs do more than Clogs” is not out there … yet.

Its also cold and muddy here in the UK in winter/spring and the Crocs you see have holes in them, and Crocs Mammoths have fleece bits that get dirty. I’m yet to see anyone outside in Mammoths. So traffic/interest in Crocs as a brand is very much depressed this Q1 compared to last summer.

Another issue, unlike the US we don’t have access to ANY new crocs styles yet to stimulate an all year market for Crocs brand buyers. The Crocs.com site does not ship internationally and only TaylorShoes.com (US retailer) *1 has reasonable international shipping rates and consquently sees some action from savvy UK shoppers. Good for them to spot a niche that Crocs.eu is not filling. Crocs.eu – we want Crocs Celeste, Crocs Cyprus, Hi Crusier and the rest not Beach NHL crocs … er hello this is not Canada!

I do believe there is an healthy appetite for the Crocs brand in the UK (and continental Europe). I have had thousands of page views on the YOU by Crocs range but as yet there is no way to get hold of them because youbycrocs.com does not ship internationally and i believe they are only on a very limited (and possibly sleath) high street trial in one upmaket UK fashion store.

Overstock of Old Styles

There’s one further issue that might hamper efforts to bring in new styles which I alluded to in my original March Chart post – Overstock. UK Retailers put in large bulk orders around Christmas to service the Q4 upturn. To their credit, they worked hard to drum up business and took in large numbers of customer orders, even taking declared “pre-orders” up to the max but in many cases Crocs Europe could not supply in time nor in enough volume.

So disgruntled consumers cancelled their orders but crucially retailers’ large bulk orders did arrive but too late for Q4 peak. Some agressive selling in Q1 (continuing) did shift some of this now surplus stock but many are riding this out until spring summer when they will shift old 2007 styles before taking a risk with new stocks.

Slower development of the Brand in Europe

In my view this is going to slow down the maturity of the Crocs market out here – hey might be a good thing for CROX in the long run. The risk is that fakes come in again this summer and supply the demand with low quality illegal copies.

Summer 2008 is key to full Brand development

What I’d like to see and quickly is Crocs.eu website, who ship throughout Europe, extend the Crocs range into these new styles especially if the current online (and real world) retailers are not going to take the risk increasing their stockholding range until old stock is shifted. In short I want to see more access to the new styles so that the whole brand and product line get focus, and sales, this summer and the Crocs brand values get a wide airing. Crocs needs to be known as a year-round brand and see year round sales.

And you guys are right on the CROX board. The dollar to pound exchange is scary – we are talking the best part of 100 bucks for Crocs Axle shoes if you can find any. You’ll have to hope we ALL come over en masse to Disneyland this year and load up!

Dr Crocs

*1 http://info.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/taylorshoes.com *1 importantly see the country breakdown for this US retailers website 23% france 13% uk which increases markedly in summer. There is a provable demand here that is not being served locally.

PS. To declare my hand or lack thereof. I am an independent blogger, not a retailer in disguise, although I speak to some and I do not hold and have never held CROX stock. To compose the charts which I publish each month, I assess the page views and click rates on each Crocs shoe style and also the search phrases that reach my website. As I have every style of Croc on the site including the new 2008 crocs the stats I see are a good indication of what is selling through the UK online retailers. FYI My blog and website receives 15,000 – 30,000 page views a month.

Crocs Chart – February 2008

February 3rd, 2008 Dr Crocs No comments

The Crocs Chart shows the 10 most popular Crocs styles on the All the Shoes price comparison website over the previous month.

The January Sales saw some deeply discounted Crocs and some of the larger retailers clearing out old Crocs stock. Stocks of Crocs Mammoth have became more plentiful after Christmas although some Crocs retailers ran out of stock before the end of the year. Cayman Crocs sales are about 2/3rds of the Crocs Mammoth and the new Crocs Alice is riding high at number three this month. I predict we’ll see a resurgence of the Crocs Cayman to the number one slot as the evenings grow a little lighter.

Hopefully this spring we’ll see some of the new Crocs styles coming to Europe including Crocs Croslite Clothing and the new Soleful You by Crocs range.

Crocs Chart – January 2008

January 7th, 2008 Dr Crocs No comments

The Crocs Chart shows the 10 most popular Crocs styles on the Cheap Crocs website over the previous month.

Happy New Year Croc Hunters! December 07 saw no let up in Crocs Mammoth sales with interest in the furry Mammoth Croc running at four times that of its cousin and nearest rival, the Crocs Cayman. Crocs Mammoth stock in adult and kids sizes arrived just in time for Christmas to boost final Q4 figures. There was also a good chart showing for the closed toed Crocs in the form of the Crocs Endeavour, Crocs Professional and Crocs All Terrain. And for the very first time Crocs Georgie made a brief chart appearance.

The January Crocs Sales have kicked off featuring some deep Crocs discounts with up to 40% off close out sales of Kids Crocs Mammoth. Traditionally the first three months of the year have been slow going for Crocs sales. The Crocs Croslite Clothing and the Soleful You by Crocs range are still to make a showing in Europe, much to the disappointment of many fashion conscious Crocs customers.

Crocs Chart – December 2007

December 3rd, 2007 Dr Crocs No comments

The Crocs Chart shows the 10 most popular Crocs styles on the Cheap Crocs website over the previous month.

Well what a difference cold weather makes to the Crocs chart … Crocs Mammoth has sailed right passed Crocs Cayman and has not stopped. Over the month of November interest in Crocs Mammoth has been running at 5 times that of its nearest rival, the Cayman. The growth has been quite staggering and the mission for most folks has been to find this rare beast in stock in their size and colour.

Good luck with hunting the elusive Wooly Mammoth!

Yes I did forget to post a chart last month because I was so busy preparing my other sites for Christmas. If you would like to visit my other sites, they are listed in the BlogRoll on the right hand side of my blog

Crocs Mammoth in Stock

November 14th, 2007 Dr Crocs No comments

Wondering where can I find Crocs Mammoth in Stock?

You are not alone. The most frustrating thing this Christmas season has been that the season’s ‘must have fashion accessory’ the Crocs Mammoth has been all but extinct in Europe and sightings of the in stock Mammoth Crocs have been rare. Not any longer – LAMCS have 1800 pairs of Crocs Mammoth in Stock right now and they e-mailed me just 15 mins ago. So you luckly RSS subscribers to my Crocs Blog – you have a head start but all the stock of Crocs Mammoths will be gone in days. On your marks ….

Crocs Mammoth in Stock

Quick stock round Up of other Crocs retailers

Sweet Feet – Black, Chocolate, Pink, Khaki and Light Blue Crocs Mammoth in Stock
Littlewoods – Black, Pink Crocs Mammoth in Stock, Black have 2 week wait
Next – some Khaki Crocs Mammoth still remain but they have no Black Mammoth Crocs
Ugs and Kisses – no stock
Kiddikingdom – no stock

**Click here for my Crocs Mammoth in Stock Checker **

As I reported in September CROX analysts were predicting that the company were going to have a difficult time meeting customer demand and that has resulted in empty shelves and even the largest retailers finding it impossible to maintain stocks in the colourways and sizes people want. BTW Black/Black is the most popular Mammoth colour combo.

If you are Christmas gift hunting or indeed looking for yourself, if you can see the colour and size you need for under £40 then snap em up now because they will all be gone if you wait.

Crocs Mammoth UK Prices

October 14th, 2007 Dr Crocs No comments

Crocs Mammoth is the success story of the season and now competes with the Cayman for first place in the Crocs Chart. This adapted Crocs Cayman has been flying of the shelves this Autumn in both Adult and Kids size. Initially led by the big retailers like Next and Littlewoods, the smaller retailers are now getting a look in and Crocs Mammoth prices are becoming more competitive, and the availablity of the elusive Wooly Mammoth much better. You may still have to hunt around to find the colour and size you are looking for and the assurance that your choice will be shipped quickly.

I’ve now added a Price Comparison for Kids Crocs Mammoth to the crocs section of the website.

The nights are now cold and dark and the hardy closed toe Crocs have made a welcome return to the Crocs chart. Riding high for the third month running is the new Crocs Mammoth the first of what we hope will be a batch of practical winter Crocs designed to take on inclement weather.

The Cheap Crocs website lists all the shoe styles available to order in the UK, and occasionally further afield in Europe and in the USA. Each month we look at what’s hot with UK Croc buyers and compile this Crocs chart so you can see which products UK buyers are most interested in.

Crocs Mammoth is the must have fashion item – its official

September 8th, 2007 Dr Crocs No comments

Croc Mammoth is not only riding high in the UK, its success has been picked up by US Stock Analysts now.

Shares of Crocs Inc. climbed Thursday after an analyst cheered the footwear retailer on its continued growth and better-than-expected results from its Mammoth product line.

Jeff Mintz of Wedbush Morgan Securities was pleased with Chief Financial Officer Peter Case’s assessment of the company’s operations in a management call. Business is accelerating across Europe, with strength in Japan coming from its Jibbitz, which are small decorative pieces that can be added to footwear. The United States is benefiting from strong Internet sales and adult sports licensing, according to the company.

Crocs Mammoth, a lined clog, has exceeded order expectations, with adult orders nearing 1 million pairs.

“We believe the Mammoth could become the ‘must have’ item of this holiday season, and expect the company will have a difficult time meeting demand for the product,” Mintz wrote in a note to clients.
