Crocs signs Branded Footwear deal with Major League Baseball

July 19th, 2007 Dr Crocs No comments

Crocs, Inc. (NASDAQ: CROX) announced today that it has expanded its sports licensing business by entering into an agreement with Major League Baseball Properties. The agreement, which covers both Crocs™ footwear and Jibbitz™ shoe charms, allows Crocs, Inc. to license the names and logos for all 30 MLB teams and related MLB properties with worldwide distribution rights.

Ron Snyder, CEO of Crocs, Inc., stated, “We are proud to partner with Major League Baseball Properties and we look forward to providing baseball fans with Crocs footwear and Jibbitz charms featuring their favorite team colours and logo. This agreement represents an important step in the evolution of our sports licensing business.”

Taking the US trend for Collegiate and now MLB team Crocs, Dr Crocs wonders if one day in the not-too-distant, a deal this side of the pond might see Crocs Europe inking a licensing deal with Premiership Football.

MLB is huge but localised in North America and environs but if it works Premiership then UEFA then FIFA sounds like solid building blocks to build a global market.

Would it catch on in Europe? Would you buy Chelsea Crocs, Arsenal Crocs, Liverpool Crocs, Man Utd Crocs or are LA Galaxy Crocs more likely? As ever let me know what you think.

If the poor July weather is a harbinger of the impending next ice age you’ll hopefully be well equiped with the new Crocs Mammoth. NEXT have jumped the queue and are the first UK website to take orders on these “wooly” Crocs Mammoth winter shoes. NEXT have these Crocs Mammoth slippers in two colours: Khaki with White Trim and Black with Black Trim.

Crocs to open stores in the UK

July 15th, 2007 Dr Crocs No comments

London is to be the site of a Crocs flagship store. Crocs Inc (NASDAQ:CROX) is launching a new Crocs ‘concept store’ in Neal St, Covent Garden at the end of August 2007 and hopes to open around 5-7 more Crocs stores in key Cities in the UK in 2008 as well as stores in Europe but only if it can find the right location.

‘I don’t believe in opening a big store on Oxford Street or Regent Street. I prefer to be somewhere where the buzz is and let people find us,’ said Dick Wijsman CEO and managing director of Crocs Europe.

Crocs Supply News at LAMCS

July 12th, 2007 Dr Crocs 4 comments

I have good news :) and bad news :( this week from LAMCS, who being the most popular Crocs supplier in the UK are a good barometer of what’s happening out there in Crocsland (more precisely what’s happening at Crocs EU headquarters in the Netherlands).

Okay the good news first. LAMCS has received a huge (8000 pairs) delivery of Crocs Caymans, both Adults Crocs Cayman and Kids Crocs Cayman. This means they are able to fill all those Crocs backorders AND crucially have a really good stock status online for Adult Crocs Caymans and in many of the popular sizes and colours are now in stock.

Now the bad news. LAMCS have temporary withdrawn their excellent pre-order facility due to “uncertainty in the Crocs supply chain”. To Dr Crocs that’s PR spin for Crocs Europe are big on the promises and short (make that very short) on delivery. I have heard this from other retailers. The knock on effect means LAMCS have temporary removed the new summer styles from their website as they have taken as many pre-orders as they can foreseeably fill.

Sassari went two weeks ago then Kids Caymans and now *all* the new Crocs flip flop styles are all gone from the website, albeit “temporarily”.

LAMCS hopes to reinstate these new style Crocs when they actually receive a physical shipment (and fulfill the pre-orders they already have). Their website states that is hopefully next week.

I’m glad to see that rather than risk disappointing their customers with uncertain delivery times, LAMCS have taken the bold step to remove the items temporarily. That’s gotta hurt when you are a retailer.

Buyer Beware of CROX.EU selling fake Crocs

July 1st, 2007 Dr Crocs 10 comments

Today a new website has emerged, appearing to sell Kids Crocs for £7.99 and Adult Crocs for £9.99 as a “snappy alternative”. They even have some Google Ads (the one’s that appear in Yellow at the top of the Google search results).

These Crocs / Crox are cheap and nasty fakes – please don’t touch them.

If the photo looks like a pair of genuine Crocs Caymans that because he’s taken a genuine Crocs photo and removed the Crocs™ crocodile logo with Photoshop. He’s then hooked the web pages into Paypal for payment. If you do buy from this website you most certainly won’t be getting genuine Croslite™ Crocs.

Since CROX is the NASDAQ symbol of Crocs Inc. I hope this website will bite the dust as quick as you can say “lawyer’s letter”.

Please note the official url of Crocs™ Europe is Crocs.eu
